Postcard #6.6 Our daily exercise

For the second successive cruise we have not used the lifts at all. Our cabin is on deck 9 with the buffet and pool being on deck 13, so plenty of climbing during the day. In the evening most of the bars and restaurants are on decks 5, 6 and 7 which means at the end of the day we climb to bed. The first few days it is a bit hard going but it does get easier the more you do it.
There are 15 steps between each deck and I am proud of the fact that I managed the climb from deck 4 to deck 13 (75 steps) even after the Santorini trip.

Postcard #6.5 Thomson Majesty Muster Drill

We just heard the muster drill being sounded for the Thomson Majesty which is moored right next to us so we wandered over to watch how they do it. They adopt the put your life jacket on and stand on the prom deck method.
Interesting to see that all the disembarking luggage has been stood out in the sun for at least 5 hours. I hope nobody has chocolates for presents back home in their case! You can’t even walk on the deck in bare feet here so I dread to think what their cases are like!

Postcard #6.4 Testing out the lifeboats

Something interesting to watch while we lie here slowly cooking in the heat. The crew are out testing the lifeboats. We have just watched them trying to row one…let’s just hope they never need to!

Postcard #6.3 After much debate…..

After much debate we have decided to stay on board ship. The weather is excellent and the ship is virtually deserted and why follow the masses into town where it will be crowded and hot. The boys have the pool to themselves and are quite content to stay put. I’m off for lunch now where I know for certain I won’t need to look long for a table!

Postcard #6.1 Approaching Corfu

Approaching Corfu

Approaching Corfu

We are about 45 minutes from Corfu and we are again being advised that we need to buy shuttle tickets to get anywhere from the port. This time they are priced at €8 each and according to the flier the journey time is 20 minutes. Will there be taxi’s this time or will it be just like Mykonos where there were none and MSC have the monopoly.

Postcard #5.3 On our way to Corfu

We left Piraeus 30 minutes late due to some passengers being late back on board.
Although an aft cabin is nice location, it also means you have a much longer walk to get anywhere. Something to bear in mind for the future.

Postcard #5.2 Todays plan

Due to one of our group not feeling 100% and also because it is really hot, we have elected to stay on the ship today. The plan was to utilise the HoHo bus to take the boys to the Acropolis but we think that the queues and the heat will make it unbearable and I don’t think the boys would get as much out of it. The ship is virtually deserted so we don’t mind too much at all.

Postcard #5.1 Arrival at Piraeus

We were awoke by the noise of a tug outside our balcony this morning. We have gone into Piraeus backwards which seems odd to me. Already there docked amongst the many ferries are the Navigator of the Seas & Ruby Princess.
